Shopping

Workload.

Development.

Hellooo...well not a very productive day for my collection, I had a chinese though! And my clothes and shoes came through the post, that made me very happy!! I will have to upload my purchases! I got some snuggly shearling boots, cut out dress, military tee's and false eyelashesss! Waiting for my other dress tooo, I have a serious problem with fashion and buying! Ohh also got a kool fur waitcoat, its laaavly! Whilst shopping today I came across this weird shop where fish believe it or not give you a great pedicure, basically eat away at your feet lol!! I may have to try it some time, it looks very theraputic in a weird way. Anyways moving away from irrelevant stuff, I do need to email some printing companies to find out printing costs for my collection....I need to get into that textiles studio and start screening printing also! My work is not going to do itself for me :( soo I will upload my work that I did the other day just so you can see what I've been doing...and that not much! Adios Amigos! xx

Belle Sauvage Swarovski.

Long times..

Well hello there bloggy...I have missed you heapsss!!! I'm sorry I haven't visited you any sooner! Well as I'm interested in the whole printing/origami stuff I have actually noticed alot of similar stuff on websites and magazines...I was busy shopping on the net earlier and purchased a few too many items he he!! I did actually buy a book though that has relevance to my collection...god I could buy so much it's rather ridiculous! I have been collating research when something jumps out at me...I want something fresh and unique in my collection though...I've seen alot of top designers create collections from inspiration from origami and protraying there ideas through prints...now the tricky part for me is to explore further to produce something with originality. I have started toiling but I'm quite a perfectionist...when I don't like something I will hate it...and its very hard to please myself ha ha! Well my sewing machine is actually staring at me right now, kind of freaking me out...but...future preparations...start printing, email printing companies, fabric shopping in London friday and DEFO need to go V&A!! Chow for now x

Bumder...

Well I've spent the last hour or so trying to do work but haven't got very far...although I've learnt I can't speak Italian and that the last inbetweeners of the series finished tonight :( I have to say Neil might be my favourite now...he's so naive and stupid! My highlights of this series has to be 'Mummy or ambulance', 'Girls always think their mates are fit then when you meet them they look like a pork scratching', 'What's this pesto, is it for humans?' 'Not so clever now is he? Now who's the f*cking mug?' (Squirrel), 'I'm just going to sh*t out a poo', 'They're only daffodils, f*cking little show-offs. Look at me, I'm out first, I'm all yellow' and 'Simples'. I'm sad its over as I have nothing to look forward to on mondays now but I have read they are actually making a film wooo so not the end thankfully! :) xx

Monday Monday...Dissertation Talk

Actually feel like I know were I'm going with my dissertation now! I have collected alot of books on print and the industry of printing but I wasn't specific enough on particular areas of it. I've decided that I wanty to look into the development and technology of print briefly, Screen printing, Digital printing, print and branding. With examples of branding and recognition I would like to include research on the following designers; Paul Smith, Celia Birtwell, Ossie Clark and Mary Quant and explore there work. I will go on to question...how can print create something innovative within clothing?...Digital printing Vs Traditional Methods and lastly does the print fit the garment? I have so many questions and topics I want to throw at my dissertation but I dont want it to become to generalised. By exploring all of this within my dissertation at the start of the year I can overcome some obstacles for my collection. I really want to learn different printing techniques and have a full understanding of what my collection will portray as print will be a great focus.

As you can see I did eventually find some fabrics that I liked...I found alot of my main fabrics down Goldhawk Road and I had a little look through Shepherds Bush market also and instead came across a fab purpler leopard print suitcase for uni :) I will upload an image of it soon, it was a bargain for only £12!! Instead of collecting white fabric samples I wanted some colour within my collection. As I'm looking at origami I was going to keep my collection white with influence from simply white paper but I felt it wouldnt really work well. Now I have these fabrics I can start testing whether the screen printing and laser cutting will work well. Lately I have become very fond of Holly Fulton's work as seen on the recent LFW catwalks...her work is actually amazing!! 'Laser cut wood, perspex and crystal merge with skins and studs to create a harder edge within the jewellery'...I'm very fond of the prints she creates with the futuristic accessories that compliment the outfits. She uses simplistic pattern cut clothing but intricate prints to make her collections new and innovative.

Fabric Research...not great images but more to come...

So...today is an independant study day so I'm going to head out into London in search of some new fabrics for my collection and research for my dissertation. I'm looking to go Sheperds Bush and Berwick street just off Oxford Circus...no doubt I'll end up shopping for myself oops :) The things I hope to achieve today is visiting the Tate, British Library and the V&A...this is mainly for research on ny dissertation topic. My collection and dissertation are linked in ceratain ways so it should be interesting the research I collect...I'm looking at the technology of printing, screen and digital printing...whilst the collection I have started to look at the mathematics of fashion from origami to geometry and recent designers like Holly Fulton to classics like Miyake. Anyways I better go as I wont get any done. I will upload my findings later on. :) xx

Well...it's that time of the year again...the start of a new fashion year and the last year of my fashion degree. I'm very excited about this year as it will be the first time making a proper collection that will determine what part of the fashion industry I will enter. To become more inspired within the fashion environment I recently went to London Fashion Weekend to collate a body of primary research...it was held at Somerset House...I went with a few friends, we shopped, drank jaques all day then was upgraded to VIP seats to the fashion show...it was amazing!! I'm already looking forward to next years show! I have uploaded some of the highlights from the show. I guess it's time to research more on my collection... :) xx
